Literature Text

Uncover this shallow grave
And expose the truth,
With steady hands that will not fail.
Hold still despite the stench
That wraps around the cold night air,
Sweet like cigars
And nauseating like nitroglycerin.
Pull away the rickety seal
That bleeds beetles
And rains mildew upon a father's face.
Within the parting silk it lays,
Two letters with poorly typed names
Of abandoned children
Who only have a mothers embrace.

Sitting back against moist ground
Feet pressed idly on coffin walls,
The answers come to life.
Jumbled words of New Zealand and Australia
Stand out amongst the tainted surface
And whisper the simplicity of this angst.

Love cannot bridge oceans.
I'm really not sure about this piece, it's not my usual style... It's a depiction of a dream I had last night.
